  • These tiny semi self-sustaining terrariums make an interesting and beautiful gift for plant people and non-plant people alike. The terrariums are designed to be extremely low maintenance and only require light, and additional water once every 3-6 months. A common issue with moss terrariums is mold, however, my moss is grown at home by me.

In my experience, moss that is harvested from the wild is prone to molding, which eventually leads to terrarium death. Harvesting moss from the wild can also impact ecosystems which is another reason why I steer away from wild moss. After I put the terrariums together, I allow them to establish for a few weeks to make sure they are healthy and growing and there are no signs of mold.

  • Light: Place the terrarium near a window, but do not allow direct light to hit it. If the moss is exposed to bright direct light for an extended period of time, the moss will die and yellow. If you do not receive natural light, you can also place it underneath an LED bulb. These terrariums do not require high light, however, do not place them in a dark corner.

Water: These terrariums do not require frequent watering whatsoever. You will likely only need to add water once every 3-6 months. You will know your terrarium needs water when the moss starts to become pale and light green. When watering, only use very very tiny amounts. I water these terrariums by first taking off the cork top, then I wet my hand and allow 1-2 drops of water to drip off my finger and into the terrarium, then I seal the terrarium back up and that's it!

It is difficult to secure the moss in these terrariums during the shipping process. If the moss is jumbled in the terrarium when you receive it, you can use a small object such as a chopstick, needle, or tweezers to adjust the moss.

    Orders are shipped every Monday.
